Kristen Ma, co-owner and marketing

Kristen was drawn to the world of skincare at age ten when she started with her own skin ailment: chronic acne. Desperate for a cure for her acne, she spent years of searching and researching the cosmetic industry. She attributes most of her knowledge of the effecs of skincare products to this search. During this time she discovered the healing and decongesting properties of natural skincare through her personal experience.

Kristen completed her esthetics diploma during her last year of high school and enrolled in university as a business major. But it was soon apparent that holistic beauty was where her passion was and she decided to travel abroad.

Since then she has worked in some of the most elite spas in Australia giving her insight to different effects of climate and ethnicity on skin conditions. Upon her return, Kristen has put her full energies into Pure + simple as she realized "it is so essential to stand behind the company and products you promote".

She has been featured and quoted by Fashion Magazine, Flare, NOW magazine, Glow, The Toronto Star, Sweet Spot and Wish Magazine.
See Media Section.

She has also appeared on Shop 411, Toronto Shops and as the facial consultant for make over show Diva on a Dime.

Kristen has also written beauty articles for Vitality Magazine, B Magazine, Jasmine Magazine. Mc Arthur and Company recently published her holistic beauty book Beauty: Pure + Simple.

"We cannot just look at clients as skin. But as holistic human beings. We need to look at their skin, but also their lifestyles, their internal health, their emotional states + their tactile + fragrance preferences. Skincare is not like shopping for clothes. You don't see something you like + try it on in a fitting room. Skincare is so specific + sometimes takes time to see results. When you browse around a beauty or cosmetic store, they are just these mystery bottles of which you prey will work. That's why we're here. Not as sales people, but consultants + guides."

Anita  - Which regimine is best for Rosacea   |2010-09-03 10:47:02
Hello. I am in my late 30s and have Rosacea. My skin is dry and of course very
sensitive. I purchased the following pure and simple products a few months
back: Sensitive Cleansing Milk, Skin Softening moisture lotion Organic Chamomile
Hydrosol and Pitta Face Oil. I am late 30s and have Rosacea. I am running low on
my cleanser and moisturizer and wondering if I am using the best products for my
skin. Is there a regimen you would recommend? I need a night moisturizer as
well. I have no issues with my current products just wondering if there is
another product I should try. Thank you

Rita  - IPL Pigmentation treatment   |2010-09-01 12:06:54
Hi Kristen,
I got lots freckles and brown spot on my face. I am very interested
in the IPL pigmentation treatment, can you give me some idea on the price? Is
the treatment permanent? Will freckles and brown spot show up later even if I
continue to use sunscreen?
kristen  - Re: Rita   |2010-09-02 11:04:39
Hi Rita,

IPL works best in a series of at least 5 treatments - this is
especially important for pigmentation caused by sun damage, as it is quite
often
very deep and gradually improves over a course of 5-10 treatments. IPL can
be permanent with the right course of treatment and the right kind of aftercare.
However you should know that your skin will always be prone to pigmentation in
the future simply because it was prone to it in the past, and those spots are
always looking for an excuse to reappear. For clients who do not follow a
careful aftercare program and continue to expose their skin to the sun without
protecting it properly, that IPL is only semi-permanent.
kristen  - Re: Rita (continued)   |2010-09-02 11:04:57
I recommend to all of my clients who have undergone succesful IPL treatments to
avoid direct sunlight on their faces if they are serious about maintaining the
results they have achieved (this usually involves using a good all-natural
sunblock with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide with SPF 30 every day, even when
cloudy - and if you are going to be sunning yourself at a cottage or on the
beach or at a sports game, etc, always wear a wide-brimmed hat to shade your
face).

At Pure + Simple we offer packages of IPL in 5s or 10s to help reduce
the costs of the treatment for our clients. You can view complete pricing

Sarah  - Full coverage Foundation (2)   |2010-08-30 19:05:38
Hi Kristen,
I forgot to add in my last message that the foundation I had used
for years (that matched my skin tone perfectly and provided a great matte
finish, but unfortunately was filled with parabens) was Prescriptives Virtual
Matte in Fresh Cream 01 (the lightest shade available for yellow/orange
tones).
If possible, could you check out the color swatch for this (in the
link), and let me know which color in both your liquid and pressed powder
foundation would match best (and provide full coverage with a matte finish)?

I am in my mid 30's with oily skin and clogged pores , reoccuring blackheads.
Oily skin by mid day. I am looking at a routine to clear this up with the pure +
simple products but am a bit overwhelmed to start. Here was my starting
purchase
Pure+simple - Green Tea Refining Face Wash 100ml
or should I choose
the sensitive skin milk which i often see recommended

Pure+simple -
Organic Witch Hazel Hydrosol 100ml
Pure+simple - Organic Lavender Hydrosol
100ml
Pure+simple - Pure Skin Face Oil 50ml
Pure+simple - Vitamin C Serum
50ml
Pure+simple - All Natural SPF 30 - Oily/Impure 100ml

Thank You
kristen  - Re: John   |2010-09-02 10:45:11
Hi John,

I recommend you go with the following:

- Pure + Simple Green Tea Face
Wash
- Pure + Simple Organic Lavender Hydrosol (I think the Witch Hazel one
might dry you out too much)
- Pure Man Face Lotion Light (which can be found on
our website here: http://www.pureandsimple.ca/index.php?page=shop.pr
oduct_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1266
&category_id=481&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virt uemart&Itemid=27) This will
be the best option for you during the day as it's light-weight, won't clog but
will hydrate your skin nicely.
kristen  - Re: John (continued)   |2010-09-02 10:45:25
- Pure Skin Face Oil (this is great for the evening, as it will soften your skin
and by morning all the oil will have absorbed and you won't be shiny)
- Pure +
Simple Natural SPF 30 for Oily/Impure Skin

The Vitamin C Serum is more suitable
for more mature skin that has sun damage. I think the Face Lotion Light will
provide you with the hydrating serum and moisturizing you need, but all in one
which will make it more straight forward to use and much less
intimidating.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Sarah  - Full coverage foundation?   |2010-09-02 10:33:14
Hello!
I have been searching for a LONG time to find a good natural foundation
that actually provides FULL coverage. I have acne/acne scars and facial
discoloration. All the other foundations I have tried either didn't provide
enough coverage, made my skin too oily, or were a poor color match. The problem
is, my skin is extreme in combination-- with dry patches on my cheeks and oily
spots in my T-zone. My face progressively gets more shine as the day continues
(which I then apply oil-absorbing strips and powder-- which end up drying my
face out too much and producing caking of the makeup and fine lines). I have
spent so much money on natural foundations and am becoming absolutely desperate
to find a good one for my skin type!! :( I was looking into your Pure & Simple
Flawless liquid foundation, and was considering using that in combination with
one of your Pure & Simple pressed powders for fuller coverage/matte finish. What
kristen  - Re: Sarah   |2010-09-02 10:40:02
Hi Sarah,

I think you will achieve the results you are looking for if you
combine the Flawless Liquid Foundation with the PURE formula of one of our
pressed powders. The PURE is the most matte, and since the Flawless Foundations
are oil-based, this will balance everything out quite well so that you are
glowing, but not greasy.

The pressed powders we produce can be used as
concealer by applying to specific spots with a sponge. It finishes as a powder
with a nice even brush application.
kristen  - Re: Sarah (continued)   |2010-09-02 10:40:19
In terms of shades for your skin tone, the Biscotti foundation is the lightest
but it has pink undertones. I usually mix it with the Cafe au Lait which is
darker but more yellow and this is the perfect shade. For pressed powders, you
might like Chrysanthemum, Creme or Swiss Coffee (though the latter of this is a
bit darker, but many people with similar undertones and fairness (from what you
describe) to yours really love this shade). You can order samples of the makeup
from our Head Office, and I encourage you to give us a call to discuss colours
more so we can be sure to give you ones best suited for your skin tone, as the
description you've left is of course pretty vague since there's no way of
knowing without seeing or discussing it more. We do not accept returns on
makeup, so samples first are ideal so you can be sure you like the textures and
colours of the makeup before making a commitment.

I hope this helps! Please<...
Alla  - rosacea   |2010-09-02 10:20:39
Dear Kristen,

It was very enjoyable to read all information about your products
and care related to certain skin conditions. I read this information because I
want to get more knowledge and understanding about skin care and specifically
for redness prone skin since I have an extremely sensitive skin with rosacea and
peri-oral dermatitis around my mouth. Even though I follow very healthy life
style (like proper diet, hydration) but anyway I have these problems: I think it
is related to stress and hormonal dis-balance which two are related to each
other. I am 34 years old female, have light skin. The redness is mainly on my
cheeks, nose, chin with some pustules (on my cheeks, chin) which appear and
disappear by themselves and some red pimples: it is like some red spots under or
on my skin (sometimes some new pimples can appear and they can be painful).
Also, sometimes some pimples appear on my forehead. But this redness does not<...
kristen  - Re: Alla   |2010-09-02 10:29:44
Hi Alla,

I think if you switch to a hydrating and soothing natural skincare
regime you will notice many improvements. It is good you have taken the time to
read the information on this website about sensitive and rosacea skin - even
with a natural regime, it is very very important that you increase your water
uptake and reassess your diet. Rosacea is aggravated by internal heat, and so
you should try to eliminate all foods that aggravate heat in the body (ie.
caffeine, alcohol, red meat, hot spices, etc).

In terms of skincare, neither
Dermaglow nor Avene products are natural, and both contain clogging
petro-chemicals, so I am not surprised you are not having much success with
them. I think right now since you have so much going on with your skin, we
should focus on the sensitivity and rosacea. I am confident once this is under
control, the breakouts you are experiencing will also calm down.

I recommend
you consider u...
Linda  - Blemished Skin   |2010-08-25 18:30:41
Hi Kristen,

I am 24 years old with an olive complexion and i have terrible
blemished skin. I have oily skin, large pores, blackheads mostly on my nose and
chin and have acne scars. I have used some organic products that seemed to work
at first but then broke my skin more or made my face oily. I don't know what to
use anymore I came across your Holistic Vanity site and read your story about
your suffering with acne, and that you use pure and simple products. I would like
to try your products but i don't know what products i should be using for my
oily blemished skin. What would you suggest for my skin type?
kristen  - Re: Lauren   |2010-09-02 10:18:09
Hi Linda,

The key is to use natural products without pore-clogging ingredients
like petroleum. This is in almost all commercial lines available at cosmetic
counters everywhere. I'm glad to read you've been checking out my blog - you
might know that I think oil is essential to healthy skin. Oily skin is great -
it keeps you looking younger for longer, so don't forget that! The reason we
are sometimes over oily, have blackheads or break out is because we are actually
lacking WATER.

For a basic regime to help balance your skin, I recommend the
following:

1. Pure + Simple Green Tea Face Wash (Gently exfoliates and cleanses
deeply without stripping or over-drying)

2. Pure + Simple Organic Lavender
Hydrosol (Acts as your daily toner. Balances oil production and provides
natural antibacterial support)
kristen  - Re: Lauren (continued)   |2010-09-02 10:18:34
3. Pure + Simple Algae Serum (It is important you wear a hydrating serum morning
and night to replenish your skin's water content. This one is light-weight and
very popular amongst clients with similar skin to yours)

4. Martina Gebhardt
Sage Lotion (This is a light-weight organic moisturizer that is great for
controlling oil production and preventing breakouts)

5. Pure + Simple
Oily/Impure SPF 30 Sunscreen (It is important to wear a non-clogging natural
sunscreen every day, even when it's cloudy out. This one helps decongest skin
while protecting from the suns rays and is ideal for your skin type).

Also VERY
important is that you do not use commercial chemical-based makeup products.
Commercial foundations are full of pore-clogging ingredients that dehydrate and
aggravate your skin type. Even if you were to invest in a great natural
skincare regime, if you continue to use regular makeup brands, it will be like
taking ...
kristen  - Re: Lauren (continued)   |2010-09-02 10:18:50
Since I have not seen your skin in person, it is hard for me to know for certain
whether or not these are best for your skin type. I have met many many clients
who are very focused on their oil production (which I suspect comes from
countless magazine articles and commercials telling us how ugly "excess"
oil looks), but completely ignore their sensitivity and other issues. Are you
located in the GTA? If so I encourage you to visit one of our spas for a free
skincare consultation.

A good regime of hydrating natural products will
reduce your blackheads, but you should know that reducing the physical size of
your pores requires regular facial treatments like Microdermabrasion, which we
offer in our stores and I encourage you to consider trying this out as your skin
is ideal (it also treats acne scars).
Lauren  - congested, sensitive skin   |2010-09-02 09:59:45
Hi Kristen,

I am 32 years old and have been using P&S products for
approximately 3 months. I have fair, sensitive skin that is quite congested
along my jaw line, one cheek and on my forehead along my hairline... blackheads.
Most acne or blackhead extraction tends to leave faint marks on my skin. I have
begun drinking 1-1.5 litres of water per day to help reduce dehydration for the
past several weeks. I tend to eat a healthy diet (non-vegetarian).

I have
definitely seen overall improvement in my skin but I still have lots of
blackheads (they return just days after a facial). I have also started taking 1
Neem pill per day on advice from a P&S esthetician.

In the morning, I am using:

Sensitive skin cleansing milk
Algae serum
Skin softening lotion
All natural
sensitive skin sunblock
Lavender hydrosol

In the evening, I use:
Sensitive skin
cleansing milk
Lactic acid original
Algae serum
Sensitive skin face oil

kristen  - Re: Lauren   |2010-09-02 11:14:11
Hi Lauren,

[*My apologies for any multiple emails you might receive as a result
of my response - there is a glitch on our server that might cause this*]

I
think the products you are using at the moment are quite good for your skin type
and none of them will aggravate the appearance of blackheads. My suggestion
with regards to products is to perhaps start using the Sensitive Skin Exfoliant
twice per week as a scrub - this is the most effective for reducing blackheads
topically as it is a physical scrub that can actually polish out clogged
pores.

Do you wear makeup during the day? If so which brand? Commercial,
chemical-based makeup are a major culprit of blackheads, and even if you're
using the perfect natural skincare regime for your skin, wearing chemical makeup
overtop will be a major step backwards.
kristen  - Re: Lauren (continued)   |2010-09-02 11:14:30
Something else you might consider trying is to steam your skin each night before
bed for one week. It's really easy to do and will only take 5-10 minutes of
your time. You can find instructions on how to do this on my blog here:
http://holisticvanity.ca/acne/steamy-nights-for-th e-cleanest-pores

If you can,
post a message on here once you've had a chance to do this for a week and let me
know if it helps. Another treatment to consider trying next time you come in
for a facial is our Salt Microdermbrasion. A long-time client of mine with
similar issues swears by these regular treatments - she sfinds it mitigates her
oiliness and blackheads for up to two months afterwards.

Let me know it it goes
when you have a chance!
Lauren  - sensitive, blemished skin   |2010-09-03 12:54:56
Hi Kristen,

I use P&S Pure Foundation in Bisque so I'm not worried about
chemical irritants causing blocked pores. I will try steaming my face for a week
before bed though... and a salt microdermabrasion soon. I had one at Pure and
Simple last month and it worked better than the other facials I've
had.

Thanks!

Wendy  - HELP!!   |2010-08-24 13:22:37
I am 45 years old and having a terrible time with my skin. I have sun damage
from previous years of sun bathing, I have huge pores, the obvious signs of
ageing, and now Roscea! What can I use to help with Roscea, as well as for
anti-ageing? I feel like I have tried everything, and my skin keeps getting
worse. Very poor texture, and redness and bumps!!
kristen  - Re: Wendy   |2010-09-02 09:57:42
Hi Wendy,

I have had many clients come to me throughout the years looking for
solutions to Rosacea. I can tell you with confidence that natural skincare
makes a huge difference in the health and appearance of your skin.

Rosacea is
too much internal heat in the body that manifests on the surface of the skin.
The key to reducing the redness and broken capillaries it causes it to hydrate
and cool both your body and skin. I've written extensively about this on my
blog at www.holistivanity.ca and on this website here:
http://www.pureandsimple.ca/index.php?option=com_c
ontent&task=view&id=20&Itemid=43

In terms of products I recommend you consider
using the following:

1. Martina Gebhardt Sheabutter Cleanser

2. Pure + Simple
Organic Chamomile Hydrosol (acts as your toner - reduces inflammation and
strengthens capillaries overtime to reduce breakage)
kristen  - Re: Wendy (continued)   |2010-09-02 09:58:14
3. Pure + Simple Collagen and Elastin PLUS (An excellent anti-aging and super
hydrating serum for both morning and night. This product is essential for
anyone suffering from rosacea - it penetrates deeply to hydrate, strengthen skin
tone and protect capillaries)

4. Martina Gebhardt Sheabutter Cream (Rosacea
skin requires both a hydrating serum and a nourishing, protective moisturizer
both morning and night - this one is great for anti-aging and is really
restorative)

5. Pure + Simple Sensitive SPF 30 Sunscreen (You must wear an all
natural sunscreen every day - even when cloudy. This one contains zinc oxide
which is excellent for reducing inflammation and products against long UV-A rays
which are a major culprit for the aging effects the sun has on our skin)
kristen  - Re: Wendy (continued)   |2010-09-02 09:58:29
Are you located in the GTA? IIf so, I encourage you to visit one of our spa
locations and book a free skin consultation with an esthetician. This is the
best way for a more personalized assessment to be done. An excellent treatment
for your skin right now would be our Super Hydrating Facial, as it will help
treat many of the problems you have cited here.

If you are not located in the
GTA, call our head office and request samples of the products I've outlined here
so you can try them on your skin. I am quite confident that your skin will feel
better immediately and with consistent use you will notice major improvements.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

I have heard great things about your products and I was wondering if you had any
suggestions for stretch marks. I am not expecting to rid of them as I know that
is not possible, but I am awaiting an appointment with a dermotoligist. I am
about 110 pounds and my weight has not fluctuated at all but the last 2-3
months I have beginning to get them on my hips, down my legs, backs of arms and
breast. Do you have any products that you could suggest to prevent and fade
stretch marks
kristen  - Re: Sara   |2010-09-01 15:36:52
Hi Sara,

I am not sure how old you are, but the only other instance I can think
of when stretch marks might appear is during puberty when the bones of a woman's
pelvis expand, breasts enlarge, etc, and even at this time, there is usually
some kind of weight gain associated with this. Are the marks you have red? The
only time you can really reduce stretch marks after they have appeared is when
they are still fresh and pink/red - the most effective treatments are either
topical applications of Rosehip Oil (which we carry) or Blakcthorn Oil (produced
by Dr. Hauschka, a line we carry on our website and in our stores), or physical
treatments involving microdermabrasion (which we offer at our spa locations) or
endermologie (which we unfortunately do not offer, but many clients including
myself have tried this method and have achieved good results).

kristen  - Re: Sara (continued)   |2010-09-01 15:38:17
[I will post the missing part of my reply because there seems to be a glitch in
the system]

In terms of prevention, it is important to oil your skin regularly
with either of the two topical treatments I suggested earlier. Stretch marks
occur because your skin stretches too quickly and the skin actually breaks down
under the epidermis, and temporarily loses its elasticity. To prevent this,
regularly oiling your skin will condition skin to stretch more gradually and
protect breakage.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other
questions.
Sara Nayler  - stretch marks   |2010-09-01 21:10:32
Thank you so much for responding,
I am 30 and I was once over weigh but that
was when I was a teenager. I have been this weight for about 3 years now and in
the last 4-5 months I have noticed a bunch more, in the areas that I had them
before they have just spead. Does bio oil work?
I am thinking of using one of
the two products you suggested. Is one better than the other? Is there a
difference between them?
Sara
kristen  - Re: Sara   |2010-09-02 11:16:41
Hi Sara,

I recommend you try using Rosehip Oil, as it will be cheaper and I had
many more clients report positive results from using it. I cannot stress enough
that the only way for any treatment to be effective on stretch marks is if the
marks are still pink/red - once they've gone light/silver, your skin has healed
itself and scarred.

I also suggest you head over to your health food store and
pick up a dry body brush. This is great for stimulating collagen production in
the skin, which is quite effective at preventing stretchmarks and encouraging
the healing of any pink/red one you might have (it will be good in place of the
microdermabrasion or endermologie treatments I also suggested).

Good luck!

Hi Kristen,
I picked up your book a couple months and I am so glad I did. Thank
you so much for sharing your knowledge on natural skin care! I have sensitive
skin so I've been using Jane Iredale pressed powder foundation for a few years
now and I love it. However I am wanting to try the Pure + Simple powder
foundation as I'm planning on ordering a couple other of your products to try.
I use amber in the Jane Iredale line, what would you recommend from your line
that is a comparable colour? I live on the east coast and it's hard to tell what
a colour actually looks like online. Thank you for time! And thanks again for
writing one of the best skincare books I've ever read.

Hi Brittany,

Thank you for your glowing feedback on my book - I love hearing
from clients who were able to learn something about their skin through my
book.

In terms of a comparable Pure + Simple Powder shade, I suggest you call
our head office and ask for samples of Creme and Orchid to be made for you and
sent to your home, so you can try these out and see how they suit your skin. We
offer this option simply because we recognize how nearly impossible it is to
order a foundation colour by looking at a colour pallette online.

I hope this
helps!

Hi Kristen,

Thanks again for letting me know about the samples! I will give a
call soon and ask about them. I really appreciate it and can't wait to try out
your products! :)
Aurilda Schindel  - Hair color products   |2010-08-19 12:27:27
Since spring, I have been using Surya Henna "Golden Brown" color as I
have developed a scalp allergy to regular products. I have med-brown hair that
is greying. The grey picks up the golden tones , but does not cover to brown. I
then tried "Light Brown", which turned my hair a slate purple color!
I
wish to add a darker color to the Golden Brown, but do not want to color dark.
Which color would be best to add a small amount....Chocolate or Dark Brown ? I
do not wish the purple coloration. I was referred to ph no 1-877-997-8792
.....but that no cannot be reached from my area in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Thank-you, Aurilda

Hi there,

If you do not want to go dark brown, I think your safest bet is the
Chocolate shade - it is medium brown with some warm red hues in it, and this
might be the darkness you need to cover the grey. I am not sure what to say
about the slate purple colour achieved with the Light Brown shade you tried - it
is hard for me to make any firm recommendations on the Surya colours as we do
not manufacture the product and I myself have dark brown hair (which doesn't
leave too many options for me, I'm afraid). However, I have a friend who uses
the chocolate colour to cover her grey and she loves it! The colour looks
wonderful, as it is not too dark, and not too red either.

I hope this helps,
and good luck finding a shade that works for you!
Judith  - Cleansing wipes   |2010-08-17 15:27:07
Kristen, first of all-I love P&S products, and they've converted me to this
whole natural skincare thing.

Have you considered making facial cleansing
wipes? I tend to be lazy in the evening, and it's so much easier to have
cleansing wipes next to my bed, than to go through the whole washing my face
thing (yes, I'm that lazy).

But I can't find any cleansing wipes that don't
have at least two of the ingredients you list in your book as being bad. Even
the ones I found from a supposedly 'natural' line had one of those ingredients
listed third on the label!

Thanks!

Hi Judith,

I am glad to hear you are enjoying Pure + Simple products and have
noticed improvements in your skin.

We considered making facial cloths a long
time ago but realized that is is difficult to do a natural one, simply because
they sit in moisture for long periods of time and require chemical ingredients
to prevent them from molding. They are also a bit wasteful as they require a
new cloth each time you cleanse (we try to be as environmentally friendly as
possible, given the nature of our industry). I am not surprised you are finding
chemical ingredients on "natural" skin care company cloths, as many
companies claim to be natural when they are in fact not at all.

I know the
feeling of being too tired (or lazy!) to wash my face at the end of the day.
All I can recommend in this case is to make it as natural a part of your routine
at the end of the night as brushing your teeth or flossing. If you're goin...
Mary L  - thinking of buying new products   |2010-08-15 13:27:03
Hi Kristen,

I have been using all types of different products and I'm
thinking of using all natural and organic products. I heard of botanica pevonia
and I saw the pure and simple brand. I would like to come and see you for a
consultation and facial to help me choose the right products for my skin. May I
know at what location must I phone to set up an appointment with you. thank
you. Please email me the spa you're working at and I shall book an appointment.
regards, Mary
kristen  - Re: Mary   |2010-08-24 10:43:15
Hi Mary,

My schedule changes quite a bit between locations so each location
has an updated schedule - please call into any store and they can tell you what
might work. I will actually be on vacation for parts of the rest of August, as
well as travelling for work throughout September, so our schedules might not
match up. If this is the case, please do not hesitate to book a consultation
with any of our other estheticians. I train most ofthe estheticians myself, and
so they are quite knowledgeable about the products and we only employ
estheticians with a high-degree of knowledge about skin.

Perhaps I shall see
you soon!
Natasha  - Pimples   |2010-08-12 13:48:46
Hi Kristin,

I have had pretty good skin and would sometimes break out on my
forehead and chin area. Recently I've broken out in these small pimples all over
my forehead. They don't look like typical acne, but I've tried exfoliation and
using masks. I also cleanse my skin with the green tea cleanser from P+S and use
the rose hip oil before I go to bed. I feel like it might be from the humidity
because it happened right after I got back from Las Vegas where it was extremely
dry.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
kristen  - Re: Natasha   |2010-08-24 10:38:33
Hi Natasha,

If you don't normally break out but did so after your trip, I
would definitely chalk it up to changes in humidity and stress from the flights
to and from Vegas. I am sorry for the delay in my getting back to you on this,
and I m wondering whether or not in the week or so that has past, if the
breakouts have cleared up?

You say that they do not look like typical acne -
can you describe to me what they look like? If they are pimples without a head,
it sounds like dehydration is the culprit, which is very common after flying -
especially if you're travelling between environments with large fluctuations in
humidity. In such a case, pick up a sample of our Cucumber Mask and apply it
once daily until the pimples clear - this will rehydrate your skin and help
reduce the clogging you're experience. A hydrating mask coupled with an
exfoliating scrub should do the trick.

I hope this helps!
